The all-new
Entrepreneurial Adventure
resource guide for teachers and business partrers!
Visit www.venturecafe.ca for further information about the EA Program

The Learning Partnership’s “EA” experience is a hands-on entrepreneurial journey. It’s about sparking students’ natural curiosity, abilities and passion to seize an opportunity – and in the process, learning to make the most of resources and community networks, engaging others and discovering just what they can do!

Each venture is a unique, local partnership open to K – 12 students, teachers and business partner volunteers. Supported by a rich network of fellow EA participants, and TLP’s resources across Canada, students are able to “live” their curriculum while turning their ideas into reality.

FAQ

Who can participate?

Any interested K-12 school or class with a teacher and business partner.

Who are business partners?

As an initiative of BMO Financial Group, this is primarily an opportunity for branches/units of BMO Financial Group to work with the communities they serve. However, as each venture is a unique idea in a unique community, involving other business partners with different resources and expertise may also be appropriate.

What is expected from a business partner?

Partners set the terms of their own partnership. Some business partners spend an hour a week working with the students and teachers on many aspects of their project. Others spend less time and focus on a more specific role, perhaps helping with planned meetings, leading a workshop or two, or setting up other resources from local customers. Some share the role with a group of colleagues from their branch/unit.

What will it cost?

Many ventures are self-financing and involve no financial support from the business partner. Some partners plan on $100-$500 for incidental costs such as a class visit to the business site, contributing some seed money, buying an ad, donating used equipment or passbooks, or purchasing the product of the venture.

How much time will it take?

From idea to evaluation, most ventures take place over one term or school year. The partners set the terms of the project and their personal time commitment.
